A violinist I'm familiar with once stated, "Those bass players sound like someone is dragging a bunch of furniture across the floor". Since this person was a member of one of the prominent U.S. symphony orchestras at the time I thought it was hilarious when he said it. Of course, I'm familiar with some ensembles that may be prone to cultivate rivalries such as instrumentalists versus, horn sections versus rhythm sections, and others.

This is the third offering from Proportional Orchestra and we have been conscious in our endeavor to make music that doesn't sound like furniture dragging. A large part of making it work is picking the right material that resonates well between the basses and drums in a way that produces harmonious interactions. Trust me - if it doesn't work we're the first to know.

This variety of materials includes original compositions plus (on the full CD) those by Astor Piazzola, Thelonious Monk, Horace Silver, Jimi Hendrix and George Duke, so enjoy our latest offering featuring the sounds combining three bassists and drums/vocals.
